Vol. 316 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - EEC Directives.

5.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he has received a communication from the EEC Commission concerning the failure of the Irish Government to implement three EEC Directives relating to consumer safety and the environment (details supplied); whether this failure has resulted in proceedings to bring the Irish Government before the European Court; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have received communications from the EEC Commission relating to the matters raised by the Deputy. Replies have been sent to the Commission indicating that Ireland intends to implement all three directives and that it is expected that implementing regulations will be made very shortly. No proceedings before the European Court of Justice have been instituted in these matters.
