Vol. 317 No. 1

Written Answers. - Clontarf (Dublin) Lorry Nuisance.

349.

asked the Minister for Justice the action being taken by the appropriate Garda authorities and other relevant authorities to have the nuisance of parked lorries and repair work on lorries in the Charlemont Road, Clontarf area of Dublin brought to an end in view of the extreme annoyance caused to local residents and if he will have this matter investigated urgently.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that, as a result of complaints received from residents of the area of Charlemont Road, Garda attention has been specifically directed to that locality. Action was taken in respect of unlawfully parked lorries and other vehicles in the vicinity of Charlemont Road and Victoria Villas. In the period from 1 November 1977 to 1 November 1979 58 breaches of the parking laws were detected and resulted in the imposition of fines-on-the-spot by the gardaí in this area.

The gardaí say that they have had no evidence of repairs to vehicles in the area which would constitute a breach of the law.
