asked the Minister for Education the number of educational institutions in receipt of grants from his Department which (a) are and (b) are not fully accessible to wheelchair users and mobility impaired teachers and students; and the steps he has taken to ensure that all such institutions under construction, modification or to be built will have such provision for accessibility.

The information requested by Deputy Horgan in the first part of his question is not available in my Department.
I can, however, assure the Deputies that it has been the practice in my Department, in the case of all educational buildings for which my Department have any financial responsibility, for plans to be approved and moneys made available on the basis of consideration being given to the needs of the physically handicapped.
