Vol. 317 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary Sewerage Scheme.

18.

asked the Minister for the Environment the date the proposals were submitted to his Department concerning the provision of a sewerage scheme for Emly, County Tipperary, the costs involved and if he will give immediate sanction to these proposals having regard to the health hazard involved.

The local authority's preliminary proposals for Emly sewerage scheme must be considered in the context of the capital available for water and sewerage schemes and the number of such schemes in progress or getting to construction at the present time.

Having regard to the need to conserve the capital available for the schemes of highest priority, I cannot say when I will be in a position to give a decision on the scheme, the preliminary proposals for which are under consideration in my Department. When the proposals were submitted on 27 September 1977 the scheme was estimated to cost £181,000.
