In the pre-intensive brucellosis eradication area the cost of vaccination is borne from State funds in respect of (a) non-infected eligible female animals in identified brucellosis infected herds and (b) breeding heifers in non-infected herds.
Elsewhere, vaccination of a limited number of reactor herds carried out for control and diagnostic purposes is undertaken free of charge by my Department.
In view of the problems which would be posed by widespread use of vaccine an extension of these facilities does not appear warranted.
