Vol. 318 No. 2

Written Answers. - Energy Sources.

373.

asked the Minister for Energy the investigation if any, being undertaken by the Irish authorities regarding the use of alcohol as an energy source and if he will make a statement on such a possibility.

Industrial alcohol is at present being manufactured in this country and is being used as an additive to petrol.

Studies on the further development of alcohol manufacture for use as an energy source are being carried out by Ceimicí Teoranta. Continuing review of progress on this work will form an integral part of my Department's programme with regard to alternative sources of energy.
