A launching aid is available to groups under the farm modernisation scheme for the provision of relief milking services. The aid consists of a 40 per cent grant on eligible expenditure by groups subject to a minimum investment of £5,000 and maximum of £15,000. The grant payments may be spread over a three year period. Eligible expenditure covers such items as legal costs in relation to formation of the group, office expenses, insurance, contribution towards co-ordinator's salary, advertising and the training of milkers.
