Vol. 319 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Donegal Advance Factory.

204.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Tourism if his attention has been drawn to the advance factory at Dunkineely, County Donegal, which is lying idle for four years and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that the factory in question was formerly occupied by an industrial project which closed down in 1977. The IDA purchased the factory in May 1978 and since then the authority have been actively promoting it for a suitable industry. To this end discussions have taken place with a number of overseas promoters who have expressed an interest in the factory.

The IDA have recently agreed, as a temporary measure, to lease the factory to Abbott Laboratories for storage purposes on a month-to-month basis until their proposed factory in Donegal Town has been completed. However, the IDA are continuing their efforts to secure a project for the factory.
