Vol. 319 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Airport Sterling Exchange Rates.

21.

asked the Minister for Transport if he will make representations to Aer Rianta to ensure that members of the public using the public car park at Dublin Airport who offer UK £ sterling in payments of car park fees are given the daily exchange rate for such payments.

I understand that Aer Rianta are examining this matter with a view to introducing a system which will facilitate customers who offer sterling in payment of fees at the public car park at Dublin Airport.

Will the Minister urge Aer Rianta to insist that as a condition of the renewal of the private concession on this car park the firm in question be obliged to give this concession? I paid in sterling and they told me to run rather than give me an exchange rate.

I agree with the Deputy that there is no reason why they should not. I will bring the Deputy's views to the attention of Aer Rianta.

They are making plenty of money and they could at least give the exchange rate.
