I assume that the question relates to the total indebtedness of State-sponsored commercial and industrial companies and statutory boards. As at end-December 1979 this figure has been estimated to be of the order of £1,575 million. In the absence of comparable audited accounts and given the different accounting periods used by these bodies it is not possible to provide a firm figure.
