Vol. 319 No. 2

Written Answers. - Cork Office for Telephonists.

197.

andMr. L. Burke asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when it is intended to open the new office for telephonists at Academy Street, Cork, if the premises are fully equipped for immediate occupation, the total cost involved and the reason for the delay to date in opening these offices.

It is proposed to open the new exchange in about two months or so when work at present in progress to enable the exchange to be occupied is expected to be completed. The opening of the exchange has to await completion of these works which have taken longer to carry out than had been envisaged.

The total cost of providing the exchange is about £130,000, excluding the cost of rental and service charges which amount to some £40,000 a year for the entire building.
