Vol. 319 No. 6

Written Answers. - Pearse Street (Dublin) Car Parking.

289.

asked the Minister for Justice the length of time a car, (details supplied) has been allowed park on the double yellow lines at the pedestrian crossing and traffic lights on the D'Olier Street side of Pearse Street Garda station, Dublin; when this vehicle will be removed and when it is intended to provide an adequate car park for this Garda station.

I understand that the car in question came into the possession of the Garda on 27 October 1979, when during a Garda investigation the driver abandoned the vehicle in Dublin. The car was conveyed to and parked outside Pearse Street Garda station on that date. There is no car park attached to the station and there is no space available in the immediate vicinity of the station which could be used for off-street parking. Because of pressure on space the car was on occasions moved further along the edge of the street. It was recently moved to Harcourt Terrace Station. It has not been possible as yet to establish ownership of the car.
