asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applicants awaiting telephone service in Glenamuck, County Dublin, and when these applications will be met.
The number is four. It is expected that service will be provided for the earliest two applicants following the completion of the necessary cabling works about the end of this year. Service cannot be provided for the other two until the separate cabling works involved, on which provision of service is dependent, are carried out next year.

It will not, regrettably, be possible to provide the further lines requested until additional underground cabling is installed in about two months' time. Service will be provided immediately the cabling works are completed.

The applicant concerned declined an offer of service in November 1977, and the cable then available was used for another applicant. Before service can now be provided additional underground cabling will have to be laid in the vicinity. Because of the large volume of urgent engineering works in hands and awaiting attention in the Dublin area, it will not be possible to carry out this work until next year.
