In many instances where a worker approaches a rights commissioner alleging unfair dismissal, the worker and his employer, with the assistance of the rights commissioner, reach an agreed settlement and the worker does not proceed with a formal claim for redress under the Unfair Dismissals Act. In such a situation, a formal recommendation is not made by the rights commissioner. The above statistics do not cover such activities by rights commissioners.
