Vol. 319 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Single Parent Families.

5.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the plans, if any, for the improvement of social welfare services for single parent families in Ireland.

Single parent families already benefit from a wide range of payments and services provided under the schemes of social insurance and social assistance and improvement of these services is a matter for consideration in a budgetary context. I have no plans for making specific provision for single parent families as such. Single parent families already covered by the existing schemes will, of course, get the increased rates of payment under those schemes as a result of the budget.
