Vol. 320 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Legislative Programme.

22.

asked the Minister for Labour the legislation he proposes to bring before the Dáil (a) prior to the summer recess and (b) between the summer and Christmas recesses.

I am dealing with a number of items of legislation at the moment, two of which I hope to have enacted before the summer recess. These are the Safety in Industry Bill, the final stages of which were put through the House today, and an Order under the Protection of Young Persons (Employment) Act, 1977. This latter item is to enable the provisions of the Act relating to 14 to 15-year olds to be extended for another year pending the introduction of a more comprehensive amending Bill.

It is hoped to introduce the following items of legislation before the Christmas recess: Hours of Work Bill, Safety, Health and Welfare (Off-shore Installations) Bill and Maternity Protection (Employees) Bill.

I also have under consideration the possibility of legislation to amend the Trade Disputes Act, 1906.
