Finance Bill, 1980. - Allocation of Time: Motion.

I move:

That in the case of the Finance Bill, 1980 and notwithstanding anything in Standing Orders:—

(a) the speech of the member of the Government opening the debate on the motion for the second reading of the Bill and the speeches of the first speaker for Fine Gael and the first speaker for the Labour Party shall not exceed one hour each;

(b) the speech of each other Member called on shall not exceed 45 minutes; and

(c) the proceedings on the Second Stage of the Bill (including the Order naming the day for Third Stage), if not previously concluded, shall be brought to a conclusion at 3 p.m. on Thursday, 15 May 1980 by putting from the Chair forthwith and successively the Questions necessary to bring them to a conclusion; and on that day Members as indicated hereunder shall be called on by the Chair to speak in the debate on the Second Stage of the Bill not later than the times specified:—

(a) 12.45 p.m. a Member nominated by the Labour Party;

(b) 1.30 p.m. a Member nominated by Fine Gael; and

(c) 2.15 p.m. a member of the Government.
