Vol. 321 No. 5

Written Answers. - Balbriggan (County Dublin) Boys' Education.

361.

asked the Minister for Education if he will give details of his proposals for the education of boys in Balbriggan, County Dublin.

Approval has been given for the provision of a new co-educational national school on the north side of the town of Balbriggan.

Second level education for boys in Balbriggan is provided mainly by the vocational school and, to a lesser extent, by the Boys' Secondary Schools in Gormanstown, Skerries and Swords.

Plans are in hand to extend the vocational school to bring the pupil capacity to 500 places overall, from the current enrolment of 347 pupils. This accommodation will be sufficient to cater for the needs of the area for the near future.

A site for a further school has been reserved to meet the possible expansion in pupil numbers at a later date.
