Vol. 322 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Applications.

334.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a reconstruction grant and solid fuel conversion grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny.

The grant in respect of the ordinary reconstruction application will be paid shortly.

In the case of the solid-fuel grant, the applicant indicated that his house had been completed within 12 months prior to the commencement of his solid-fuel installation. As a grant is not payable in such circumstances, his application was rejected.

335.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will state in relation to eight applications for heating conversion grants (details supplied) in County Dublin the reason payment has not been made in respect of six while payment of £380 was made to the seventh and payment of £600 was made to the contractor involved in relation to the eighth person in view of the fact that the eight applicants signed a form requesting that payments should be made directly to the contractors concerned; and the reason a reduced payment was made in respect of one individual.

Grants have in fact been paid in respect of seven of the eight cases referred to. Four payments have been made in care of the contractors in accordance with authorisations lodged with my Department. The contractor has been notified of two cases where payment issued direct to the applicants notwithstanding "Pay c/o" authorisations. The case where a grant of £380 was paid has been referred to the inspector for a further report. The remaining case is awaiting an inspection which will be carried out as soon as possible.
