Vol. 322 No. 5

Written Answers. - Lusk (Dublin) School.

379.

asked the Minister for Education if he will make a statement about the proposed new school at Lusk, County Dublin indicating the present stage of the project; when it is likely to be completed, and whether he proposes to have consultations with voluntary child care groups and organisations about how such a school could be linked into the overall development of child care services.

Tenders for the building have been received and are being examined. It is hoped to have the building ready for occupation early in 1982.

This school is being provided in response to recommendations contained in the interim reports of the Inter-departmental Committee on the Mentally Ill and Maladjusted and the Task Force on Child Care Services. These reports deal with the place which the school should occupy in the overall development of the child care services. I understand that consultation in connection with the preparation of the reports took place with appropriate statutory and voluntary bodies. Further consultations may be arranged as the need may arise.
