asked the Minister for Finance if in relation to the information supplied on Forms MED 1, which are the basis of refunds made by the Revenue Commissioners, he will outline for the last complete financial period for which figures are available (i) the cumulative amount of qualifying expenses under each of the subheads (a)-(h) on page 2 of Form MED 1; (ii) the cumulative deductions under section 1 on page 2; and (iii) the cumulative deductions under section 2 on page 2.

Statistics in relation to medical expenses claims are not kept in such a manner as to provide the information requested by the Deputy. Such detailed statistics could not be obtained without the expenditure of undue time and resources.
The only statistics available on the subject are those contained in my reply to the Deputy's question on Wednesday 28 May 1980 (Official Report Vol. 321, No. 6, columns 938, 939).
