asked the Minister for Finance the actual reduction achieved in unemployment during the first four months of 1980; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Written Answers. - Unemployment Reduction.
67.
The actual reduction in unemployment in the first four months of 1980 is determined by the increase in employment in that period. The main indicator of employment change is the Quarterly Industrial Inquiry. The results of the inquiry for the March quarter will not be available for some months. Consequently it is not possible at this stage to indicate the increase in employment leading to a reduction in unemployment during the first four months of 1980.
