Vol. 322 No. 10

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

329.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applications for telephone service received from applicants in the Menlo-Carrowbrowne area, County Galway; the reasons for the delay in installing these telephones; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The number is 26. Provision of service is dependent on a major cabling job which because of other urgent schemes could not be undertaken earlier. Work on it is scheduled to commence shortly, and service will be provided progressively for all applicants over the next six months or so according as the cabling scheme proceeds.

330.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs why a person (details supplied) in Kerry was refused an application form for a telephone service.

There is no record that this person was refused an application form for telephone service. A completed application form dated December 1978 is held for provision of service at the premises in question.
