I do not intend to change the composition of the boards of the State bodies under my aegis in so far as the statutory number of members of each board is concerned.
With regard to membership of the boards, vacancies exist or are due to arise on a number of the boards during 1980. These vacancies will be filled in the usual way—either by the reappointment of the members whose terms of office have expired or by new appointees. In addition, in the case of Córas Iompair Éireann and Aer Lingus, in accordance with the terms of the Worker Participation (State Enterprises) Act, 1977, it is expected that, following elections held under regulations to be made by the Minister for Labour, worker directors will be available in November 1980 for appointment to the boards of these companies. Four worker directors will be appointed in each case.
