Vol. 322 No. 10

Written Answers. - Air Services.

233.

asked the Minister for Transport if, in the event of reductions in air services to this country by currently authorised carriers, he will authorise other airlines to serve the country to reduce the harmful effects to Irish industry and tourism.

The authorisation of scheduled air services is governed by the terms of bilateral agreements between the countries concerned. Within the terms of these agreements I would be prepared to consider the authorisation of services by airlines in cases where it is demonstrated that the services would meet a market need not already being met by existing operations.
