Vol. 322 No. 10

Written Answers. - Breaches of Licensing Laws.

272.

asked the Minister for Justice the number of summonses issued in respect of breaches of the licensing laws in a locality (details supplied) in County Cork since 1 January 1979; the number withdrawn or not served; and the reasons for withdrawal or failure to serve summonses in each case.

I have been informed by the Garda authorities that 19 summonses were issued in respect of breaches of the licensing laws from 1 January 1979 to date in the area in question. Ten of these were against licensees and nine were against customers. None of the summonses was withdrawn but three were not served within the required period and expired. The reason for this was that further Garda investigations in the cases had not been completed. In all three cases new summonses were issued and they have since been served.
