asked the Minister for Agriculture the extent of the restrictions imposed on Irish lamb exports to France; and the action he has taken in the matter.

France recently imposed a quota on imports of lamb from all member states. The restriction confines imports to 70 per cent of the quantities of lamb imported during a five-week period in April and May. I protested strongly to the French Minister for Agriculture about the restrictions. Discussions were held at official level but did not yield worthwhile results. I propose to take up the matter again with the French Minister.
