Vol. 322 No. 11

Written Answers. - Sea Rescue Services.

187.

asked the Minister for Transport the annual contribution paid by the Government to sea rescue services, such as the RNLI and Irish Lights, towards the maintenance of light houses and the payment of staff.

(i) The annual contribution currently paid to the RNLI is £30,000. (ii) No contribution is made to the Commissioners of Irish Lights, who are a financially independent body operating under legislation which authorises them to finance their activities from light dues levied on shipping.
