Vol. 322 No. 11

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Killarney House Repairs.

47.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the five-year delay to date by Killarney UDC, County Kerry, in having repairs carried out to the local authority dwelling of a person (details supplied) in County Kerry, which has now resulted in damage to household effects; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I understand that this is a new house built in 1975 and that the tenant's dissatisfaction with the condition of the front door has been the subject of examination and remedial measures not so far to the satisfaction of the tenant. The provision and maintenance of local authority dwellings including the carrying out of any repairs considered necessary in individual cases is primarily a matter for each local authority concerned and not one in which I would intervene.

Is the Minister not on speaking terms with Deputy O'Leary?

Deputy O'Leary and I have always been good friends down the years.

That indeed would be a separate question. Questions Nos. 48 and 49 are for written reply.
