asked the Minister for the Public Service if he will list the number of advisory bodies set up by his Department and give details of the activities of these bodies and the budgetary provisions for each of them.

: There are currently three advisory bodies set up by my Department. These are:

Public Services Advisory Council; Review Body on Higher Remuneration in the Public Sector; Review Body on Computerisation in the Government Services.

The information requested by the Deputy in respect of these advisory bodies is set out in a tabular statement which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Report.

Public Services Advisory Council

To advise on the organisation of the public service and on matters relating to or affecting personnel in the public service and to report annually

£2,500

Review Body on Higher Remuneration in the Public Sector

To advise the Government from time to time on the general level of remuneration of:

(a) civil servants and local authority officers outside the scope of conciliation and arbitration schemes and

(b) chief executives of state-sponsored bodies and

(c) any other specific issues referred to it by the Government

£32,000

Review Body on Computerisation in the Government Services

To examine and make recommendations in relation to computer development policy for the Government services (i.e. broadly those financed by the Exchequer)

£110,000
