Vol. 324 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Monaghan Water Supply Scheme.

404.

asked the Minister for the Environment the up-to-date position regarding the Ballybay-Aughnamullen regional water supply scheme and the Ballybay sewerage scheme, County Monaghan.

Monaghan County Council have recently been advised to prepare separate contract documents for the civil works, the treatment works plant, the pumping plant and the flouridation plant for the Lough Egish-Ballybay-Aughnamullen water supply scheme. The submission of those documents is awaited.

Contract documents for the mechanical plant and the civil works for the Ballybay sewerage scheme are at present under consideration in my Department. The approval of these contract documents must be considered in the context of the overall capital provision for sanitary services and the number of fully approved schemes in progress or getting to construction for which adequate finance must be provided. I am not in a position to say when approval may issue to the contract documents for the Ballybay sewerage scheme.
