I am not so aware. Under devolved procedures it is a matter for each local authority to plan and initiate any housing scheme of 60 houses or less having regard to the housing needs in their functional area and to the capital resources available. I understand from Galway County Council that they have been unable to initiate a scheme at Gort due to difficulties in acquiring a suitable site but the council are at present negotiating for the purchase of land in this area.
