My Department are conducting tests on different types of citizens band radio equipment at present and I hope that this technical investigation will be completed by the end of December.
Recommendations based on the results of these tests will be submitted for my consideration early in the new year.
An interim report on the tests being carried out to determine the possible effects of CB operating on 27 MHz indicates that:
(i) TV relaying on channel B will suffer interference if CB is allowed in the 27 MHz Band:
(ii) The use of FM in preference to AM would greatly reduce the interference problems
(iii) Reducing the CB transmitter power reduces interference but does not eliminate it.
