With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 29 and 30 together.
Under section 96 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961, the provision of a school warden service is a matter for the local authority to arrange, subject to the consent of the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána.
I have no funds at my disposal for the provision of special financial assistance to local authorities for the operation of school warden services and I have advised the Tramore Town Commissioners accordingly in response to a request received from that body. It is however open to the commissioners to consider asking the county council to enter into an agreement with them under the Local Government Act, 1955, whereby the county council would operate the service for them.
