asked the Minister for the Environment if his Minister of State gave an undertaking in a letter of 23 October 1980 that early arrangements would be made for the payment of the £1,000 new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Meath; if so, the reason the money has not been paid to-date; when it will be paid; when the work was inspected; and when the report of the inspection was received in his Department.

This grant has been paid. An inspection was carried out in the week ending 28 June 1980. Unfortunately the file was lost in transit from the inspector to my Department. The letter of 23 October 1980 was based on a verbal report from the inspector but it was necessary to obtain from him a duplicate certificate of payment which was received on 30 October 1980.
