Vol. 325 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway River Maintenance.

33.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that the Cregg river at Corrandulla, County Galway has burst its banks; and when the Office of Public Works will carry out maintenance on this river.

I am aware that flooding has occurred in the Lower Cregg catchment. This matter has been under investigation and was discussed by officials of the Office of Public Works with the local farmers at a recent meeting.

This investigation will continue with a view to alleviating the flooding in so far as is possible in the context of the maintenance of the Corrib-Clare drainage scheme. Regular maintenance work will, of course, continue to be carried out as required.
