Vol. 325 No. 7

Written Answers. - Carriage of Live Animals

166.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is satisfied with the regulations governing the transport and carriage of live animals from this country; and if he has made inquiries to ascertain why greyhounds transported recently died.

The regulations governing the transport and carriage of live animals from this country, in general, are considered to be satisfactory. The death of some greyhounds in the course of exportation recently from this country is at present under investigation. If this investigation reveals the need for tighter controls the necessary measures will be introduced.
