I understand from the Industrial Development Authority that technical difficulties in production have caused the company to lay off temporarily twenty-six of their 89 workers. The company have stated that the lay-offs will be for a period of three months and that they expect within that time to be able to overcome the difficulties encountered. At first 29 workers were laid off but three have since been re-employed. I am also informed that the workers affected were given 24 hours' notice but that they received one week's pay in lieu of full notice.
