asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the long delay to date in paying a new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Dublin; why it was intimated that the grant would not be paid before Christmas 1980; and if he will now consider this matter with a view to immediate payment.

There was no undue delay in dealing with this case in my Department. The grant was paid on 14 January 1981.

445.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in the payment of a new house grant to a person (details supplied) in south-west Cork; and whether arrangements can now be made for payment.

There is no record in my Department of an application for a new house grant from the person named, but there is a record of applications for reconstruction and water and sewerage grants. The grants will be paid very shortly. Any delay in dealing with the case has been due to the huge number of applications being processed in my Department.
