asked the Minister for the Environment (a) the amount of grants requested to be allocated by each local authority for 1981; and (b) the amount granted by the Government for 1981, under each separate heading; housing, roads, etc.
Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Allocations for Local Authorities.
The allocations for local authority housing, water supply and sewerage schemes, environmental works and the local improvement scheme have not yet been made and the information requested by the Deputy in relation to these services, insofar as it is available, will be forwarded to him as soon as possible. It is not the general practice for local authorities to submit requests for annual allocations for road works, environmental works or works under the local improvements scheme.
Particulars of road grant allocations and of requests of local authorities for allocations, together with the actual allocations made for house purchase and improvement loans and supplementary grants, for 1981 are set out in the form of a tabular statement, which I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to have circulated with the Official Report.
Following is the statement:
House purchase loans and supplementary grants.

Two brief supplementary questions. First, is the Minister telling me that no money has been allocated so far this year? Second, is he saying local authorities do not ask for specific sums under those headings from the Department? If so, things have changed a lot in a couple of years.
I have given the Deputy the reply.
The Minister read a reply but it was not a reply to the question I asked. The Minister does not know.
