Vol. 326 No. 11

Written Answers. - Loughlinstown (Dublin) Hospital.

155.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of a submission from the County Dublin Local Health Committee to his Department expressing concern at a suggestion that St. Colmcille's Hospital, Loughlinstown may be down-graded; and if, in view of the satisfactory service provided by the hospital to the people of south County Dublin and north and east Wicklow, he will ensure that adequate staff and other facilities are made available so that proper facilities will be provided there.

I assume that the Deputy is referring to a submission that the County Dublin Local Health Committee recently made to the group, representative of my Department, the Eastern Health Board and the authorities of St. Vincent's Hospital and St. Michael's Hospitals, which I established to consider the organisation of general hospital services in the south-east Dublin-east Wicklow area. I will consider the matters relating to St. Columcille's mentioned by the Deputy when I receive the group's recommendations. I expect these recommendations in a few months.
