Vol. 328 No. 17

Written Answers. - Disability Benefit Payment.

101.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason for the delay in the payment of disability benefit to a person (details supplied) in Waterford, in view of the fact that all the necessary forms were submitted.

The person concerned claimed injury benefit from 31 January 1981 in respect of an accident at work on that date. Pending the outcome of inquiries regarding the nature and origin of his incapacity he was paid disability benefit on an interim basis. Due to an administrative error, however, he was not paid the increases of benefit in respect of his children.

On completion of inquiries it was accepted that his incapacity for work arose out of his employment and his claim for injury benefit was allowed.

His claim was adjusted on the basis of the decision regarding the occupational accident and all injury benefit (including the adjustment for his children) due to 14 May 1981 has been paid.

As details of earnings in the relevant tax year were not available under the R.S.I. number quoted it was necessary to obtain a statement of earnings from his employers. This has since been done and all pay-related benefit due to 14 May 1981 has issued.
