Notes: (A) The Depot prices shown for sod peat (loose), crushed peat and baled briquettes are the ex-works prices.

(B) The price shown is the price per tonne for domestic housecoal sold by CDL to bellmen in Dublin.

(C) There is no formal control over the retail prices and the delivered prices of sod peat (loose) and crushed peat. The prices shown are the average delivered prices.

(D) The maximum retail price for baled briquettes is controlled by order made by the Minister for Trade, Commerce and Tourism. However, no formal control is exercised over the delivery charge.

(E) CDL Dublin operates a price ex depot which is agreed with NPC though not subject to a maximum prices order and delivered to consumers at a price agreed in the same way. The prices shown are the CDL prices. Sales by bellmen, while not controlled, are monitored to ensure that the traditional relationship between their price and the CDL delivered price is maintained.

The October 1980 maximum retail price fixed by order for baled briquettes sold in Dublin, Tullamore and Limerick was 48½p per bale and 50½p per bale for Letterkenny. The corresponding current maximum retail prices are 61p per bale and 63p per bale respectively. I have no information on the prices of baled briquettes sold in Newry, Omagh, Strabane and Derry on the dates mentioned.
