It is not possible to give the information in regard to the Environmental Improvement Schemes Programme in the form requested by the Deputy.
Total expenditures by local authorities in respect of schemes under the programme in 1979 and 1980 were £4.82 million and £2.739 million respectively, and allocation for 1981 was £2.986 million. The number of man-years of employment provided in 1979 and 1980 was 910 and 470. The corresponding figure for 1981 is not yet available.
Under the programme not less than 60 per cent of expenditure on schemes must be on wages and at least three of every four persons employed must be under 25 years of age.
