Vol. 331 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Transport Costs.

7.

asked the Minister for Transport whether, in view of the disadvantages suffered by the whole western area in relation to agriculture and all commercial life because of transport difficulties, the Government will consider the need for a levelling of rates and costs of transport serving these remoter regions of the State.

(Cavan-Monaghan): The Government are conscious of the need to ensure that there are adequate transport facilities available to serve the needs of industry, commerce and agriculture in the western area generally. I am not aware that these facilities are inadequate but if there is a particular problem in relation to a specific area or sector I would, on receiving details, be glad to have it examined.
