asked the Minister for Education if he has received an application for a grant towards the building of a scout den from a scout unit (details supplied) in Dublin; and, if so, if he will approve it.
With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle I propose to take Questions Nos. 261 and 262 together.
Almost 700 applications for financial assistance, including an application from the 115th Unit CBSI, Ballinteer, were received under my Department's Community, Youth, Recreational and Employment Programme. The 115th Unit CBSI, Ballinteer was not nominated for assistance and as all funds placed at my Department's disposal for the purpose of the scheme were fully committed by the previous Government the question of making a grant available to this group cannot be considered at this stage.
