asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of new subscriber telephone connections made in the Dublin exchange area in 1979, 1980 and 1981.

1979 — 11,000; 1980 — 24,400; 1981 — 23,000.

Overtime, including Sunday duty by day staff, performed by staff in the Central Telephone Exchange in February 1982, was as follows:

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the new telephone exchange at Clondalkin, County Dublin will be in operation.

It is expected that the new permanent 6,000 line digital exchange will be brought into service about the middle of 1983. As an interim measure, the capacity of the existing exchange has been extended temporarily by a mobile exchange.

It is not planned to provide an additional telephone kiosk to serve the Saggart area at present; the area is regarded as adequately served by the existing kiosk at Main Street, Saggart, which is not heavily used.
