Vol. 333 No. 8

Written Answers. - Rebuilding of Walls.

942.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware that it is now the policy of Dublin Corporation not to re-build walls of gardens of corporation houses knocked down by stolen cars; if he is aware of the severe hardship this is causing to many tenants; and if in the circumstances he will direct the corporation to (a) re-instate whatever walls have already been knocked down and (b) extend their insurance cover on the structure of the houses to include walls and fences damaged by stolen cars and so on.

I am not so aware. The maintenance and management, including the extent of insurance cover, of Dublin Corporation's rented housing estate is a matter entirely for the corporation. I understand, however, from the corporation, that they hope to be in a position shortly to re-instate such walls where necessary.
