I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer was made redundant from his employment in May 1981 and received a lump sum redundancy payment of £8,844 from which tax amounting to £464.39 was deducted by his former employer after consultation with the inspector of taxes. Any further relief which might be due to the taxpayer could only be determined after 5 April 1982 when the full details of his income for 1981-82 became available.
The inspector of taxes has written to the taxpayer for the necessary additional information required and, when it is supplied, any repayment due will be made without delay.
