Vol. 333 No. 9

Written Answers. - New House Grants.

230.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the problem being faced by sons and daughters of small farmers in relation to new house grants who do not come within the tax net and of the difficulty they experience in having the form stamped by the inspector of taxes, with the resulting delay in obtaining SL 4 forms; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

231.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position in regard to obtaining the necessary SL 4 form for a new house grant from his Department where either of the parties concerned do not come within the income tax net and where they are applying for the new house grant.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 230 and 231 together.

I am not aware, nor are the Revenue Commissioners, of any problems being experienced by grant applicants in having the form SL 4, which is issued by my Department, certified by their Inspectors of Taxes. There is no reason why any problems should arise.

There is no problem about the availability of SL 4 from my Department as it is attached to every new house grant application form.
